Preview: Banneker Trojans vs. Mays Raiders

Banneker is 0-8 against Mays since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Banneker Trojans will look to defend their home court against the Mays Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Banneker suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. Their tough 84-62 defeat to Jackson might stick with them for a while. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Saturday (59), Banneker still had to take the loss.

Mays posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Creekside as Mays made off with a 81-57 win. The victory was just what Mays needed coming off of a 82-58 loss in their prior game.

Mays got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Germani Wilson out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Wilson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Derron Lindsey ii was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.

Banneker's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mays, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Banneker, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-45 loss to Mays when the teams last played on January 2nd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lindsey ii, who scored 21 points along with six assists and four steals. Now that Banneker knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
