Basketball Recap: Cross' Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cross had won two straight games and Ryan Mayers did her part to make it three on Monday. The Cross Stingrays simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bridges Prep Buccaneers 72-43 thanks in part to Mayers, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 boards. She also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Cross is 7-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-6 otherwise.

Reyannah Maldonado was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for five straight games.

Despite the defeat, Bridges Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addie Taylor dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor also set a new season-high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Sopia Fess, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points.

Cross now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Bridges Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Cross didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-41 loss against Liberty County on the 14th. As for Bridges Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 41-16 victory against Edisto on the 14th.
