North Beach needed a changed in momentum after dropping six straight games and they got it from JJ Eastman. The North Beach Hyaks snuck past the Northwest Christian Wolverines with a 45-40 win on Friday thanks in part to Eastman, who shot 7-for-11 from long range and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game.
Northwest Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dan Babber, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 20 points and eight steals. Babber is becoming a predictor of Northwest Christian's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Vahey, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.
