Basketball Recap: Hapeville Charter Takes a Loss

Hapeville Charter suffered their biggest defeat since November 22, 2024 on Monday. They took a blow against the Carver Panthers, falling 59-31. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2017.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janiah Murray, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Murray has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Tubriyia Daniels, who posted two points along with 11 boards and seven blocks.

Even though they lost, Hapeville Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Hapeville Charter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Carver, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Hapeville Charter has already played their next game, a 41-30 defeat against Therrell on the 28th. As for Carver, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-39 win against KIPP Atlanta Collegiate on the 28th.
