Baseball Recap: Otis Has No Trouble Against Weldon Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Haxtun, Otis was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Weldon Valley Warriors as they made off with a 21-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulldogs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Emiliano Varela was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Varela was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Price, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Paxton Davis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

Otis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weldon Valley only managed one hit.

Otis' record now sits at 10-2. As for Weldon Valley, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Otis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Merino on the 12th. As for Weldon Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-4 defeat against Briggsdale on the 11th.
