La Lumiere wins first national title after success at Dick's Nationals.

Fresh off a national championship season at La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), head coach Shane Heirman has been hired as an assistant at DePaul.

Heirman confirmed the move Monday morning via Twitter.
Heirman, a former player at Tulsa, went 81-7 in three years in the top spot at La Lumiere. The Lakers reached the Dick's Sporting Goods High School Nationals final in each of the past two seasons, winning this year and finishing No. 1 in MaxPreps.com's Independent Top 10.

During the 2016-17 campaign, La Lumiere went 28-1 and beat teams from a dozen states in addition to Indiana. Heirman's squad locked up national No. 1 status with a 70-52 win over perennial power Montverde Academy (Fla.) at Dick's Nationals in New York City.

La Lumiere has elevated Pat Holmes to the head coaching position, making the announcement via Twitter. The Indiana native interned with the Notre Dame basketball program and was a graduate assistant for Florida State prior to arriving in La Porte.
It took Shane Heirman just three years to bring a national title to La Lumiere.
