Baseball Recap: Detroit Lakes Takes a Loss

Detroit Lakes had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it five. They lost 8-1 to the Rocori Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lakers of the 7-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Rocori, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Rocori's part, Jace Griffin was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was Griffin's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cal Heying, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Detroit Lakes will welcome Alexandria at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rocori, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Thomas Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
