Basketball Game Preview: Marathon Dolphins vs. NSU University Sharks

The Marathon Dolphins just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the NSU University Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

On Wednesday, everything went Marathon's way against Key West as Marathon made off with a 60-34 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-12.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask NSU University). They claimed a resounding 76-4 win over Somerset Academy. Winning may never get old, but the Sharks sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

NSU University found their leader in sophomore Laly Luque, who went 11 of 14 on her way to 23 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Luque has scored all season. Kenna Cohen-Osceola was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

NSU University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

NSU University pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Marathon, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Things could have been worse for Marathon, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-46 loss to NSU University when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
