Avon Grove and Coatesville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Red Devils will be playing at home against the Red Raiders at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Avon Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Avon Grove beat Kennett 11-8. The victory continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Blue Demons: they've now won four in a row.
Avon Grove got a great performance from Devin Rinker as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.
On the hitting side, Myles Raymond was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Logan Nelson, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Avon Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Coatesville entered their tilt with East on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Coatesville pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Avon Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Avon Grove came up short against Coatesville in their previous meeting back in March, falling 4-1. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
