Baseball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral couldn't beat New Mexico Military Institute on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Lobos lost 18-6 to the Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-7 on Tuesday.

This is the second loss in a row for Chaparral and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for New Mexico Military Institute, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will venture away from home to square off against Lovington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Mexico Military Institute, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Goddard at 10:00 a.m. on March 12.
