Softball Recap: Davenport Continues Road Dominance on Monday

While Davenport put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Poinciana. Davenport blew past Poinciana 14-0. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Ashanti Pagan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jordyn Duran was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Madison Bergeron was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Davenport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Davenport's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Poinciana, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Davenport will square off against Horizon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Horizon's pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so Davenport's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Poinciana, they will face off against Tohopekaliga at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poinciana's pitchers better be ready for this one: Tohopekaliga has averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
