Hooks proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the De Kalb Bears 5-4. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Darla Jones looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Beth Black, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zoey Greenwood, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Hooks' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5.
