Softball Recap: Southwood Cowboys vs. Caddo Magnet Mustangs
Southwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 17-2 walloping at the hands of the Caddo Magnet Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Southwood of the 17-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.
Anicia Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-2 with a triple and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Patterson, who went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and two RBI.
On Caddo Magnet's side, McLamb Mary made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Mary was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Strickland Ansleigh was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three straight games. McLamb Landry was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
Southwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-25. As for Caddo Magnet, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Calvin the next time they take the field. Caddo Magnet will host Calvin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Southwood will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
