Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Libertyville's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Libertyville won the last time they faced Lake Forest and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Scouts with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Libertyville let Sofia Lombardo and Zoe Kinsella run wild. Lombardo went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Kinsella went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Lombardo has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Taylor Higham, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Libertyville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Forest only posted an OBP of .200.

Libertyville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Forest, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-20.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Libertyville will venture away from home to square off against Warren Township at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
