Football Recap: Columbia Falls Despite Big Games from Easton Zickgraf and Jackson Cheslak + How To Watch

Columbia was the 7-6 winner over Ridgevue when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 23-21 on Friday. While the Wildcats had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Warhawks 14-0.

Columbia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Cheslak, who rushed for 57 yards and a pair of scores, and Easton Zickgraf, who threw for 184 yards and one touchdown. Cheslak is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Columbia also got help from Tyson Winkelman, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Ridgevue's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braden Wagoner led the charge by rushing for 80 yards and one TD. Wagoner really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Hunter Schmittel was another key player, rushing for 63 yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Columbia fell to 3-1. As for Ridgevue, their record now sits at an identical 3-1.

Columbia has already played their next game, a 22-20 loss against Bishop Kelly on the 26th. As for Ridgevue, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 56-15 victory against Caldwell on the 26th.
