Football Recap: Southmoore Takes a Loss

Southmoore lost against Moore back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The SaberCats took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, the SaberCats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Lions are ranked 31st).

Moore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maverick Gardner, who rushed for 147 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also threw for 186 yards and one touchdown while completing 72% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Gardner a new career-high in passer rating (106.4). Another rusher making a difference was Ozias Adams, who gained 139 total yards and a touchdown.

Southmoore's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Moore, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southmoore will head out to challenge Putnam City North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Moore, they will venture away from home to take on Norman North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
