Baseball Game Preview: Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans vs. Horton Chargers

The Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans will head out to face off against the Horton Chargers on Monday. Horton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Marais des Cygnes Valley, who comes in off a win.

Marais des Cygnes Valley barely beat Oswego the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Marais des Cygnes Valley blew past Oswego 18-1 on Thursday. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Dalton Lingenfelter made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Landon Traver was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Traver, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Marais des Cygnes Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Horton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-0 to Pleasant Ridge.

The win got Marais des Cygnes Valley back to even at 2-2. As for Horton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Marais des Cygnes Valley suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Horton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Marais des Cygnes Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
