Basketball Recap: Theresa Caravlho's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Holmes over Brennan

Holmes played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Brennan Bears, falling 46-22. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Holmes lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Theresa Caravlho, who posted four points in addition to five boards and three blocks. That's the most blocks Caravlho has posted since back in November of 2024.

Brennan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Niashya Townsell, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and six rebounds. Townsell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Flemings, who had six points along with 12 boards and six assists.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 16-15. As for Brennan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Holmes will venture away from home to square off against O'Connor at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Connor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Brennan, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Stevens at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brennan has four straight wins, Stevens has 22 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
