Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Castle View's Fifth in Last Six Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Castle View had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-8 win over the Fossil Ridge SaberCats. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sabercats considering their two-run performance the game before.

Cole Cates tossed a big game, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Tommy Feldhake was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Aidric Zohlen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and one run.

Castle View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Fossil Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-7.

Looking ahead, Castle View will challenge Regis Jesuit at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Sabercats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Fossil Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
