Football Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Soquel Knights + How To Watch

The North Salinas Vikings will head out to challenge the Soquel Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, North Salinas was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 13-7 to Monterey. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Soquel strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 28-7 margin over Alisal. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Knights' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Trojans are ranked 301st).

North Salinas better keep an eye on Sam Whelan. He was instrumental in Soquel's win, throwing for 310 yards and three TDs while completing 72% of his passes, and also rushing for 57 yards on only six carries. A healthy portion of Whelan's aerial production (84 yards to be exact) went to Cash Moran, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Soquel's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for North Salinas, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

North Salinas was taken down by Soquel 35-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for the Vikings, Justice Grauel Tebong (who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries) won't be suiting up this time.
