Basketball Recap: Gillespie Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Gillespie easily dispatched North Mac last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Gillespie Miners fell just short of the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers by a score of 42-39 on Monday. The Miners were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vipers earlier this season, when they won 58-42.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brielle Johnson out in front who posted eight points and nine boards. Those eight points gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna McGath, who scored eight points and three steals.

Gillespie's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, their record now sits at 16-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gillespie has already played their next contest (against Hillsboro), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Pawnee/Calvary/Lutheran.
