The home team had won the previous three meetings between Columbus and Brenham, and Columbus kept the tradition alive. The Cardinals skirted past the Cubs 3-2. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (108-105) Columbus actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12.

Columbus' win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Brenham, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Coming up, Columbus will be taking part in a tournament against Flatonia at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brenham, they will host Bridgeland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
