The home team had won the previous three meetings between Columbus and Brenham, and Columbus kept the tradition alive. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Cubs 3-2. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Cubs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Columbus got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12.

When it comes to explaining why Brenham lost on Tuesday, don't look at Logan Hayslip. Despite the final result, she had 42 digs and three aces. Hayslip has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last nine times she's played. Kayegan Meyer also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Brenham, they moved to 6-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Columbus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Flatonia on the 21st. As for Brenham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Fredericksburg on the 22nd.
