Basketball Game Preview: Quincy Blue Devils vs. Alton Redbirds

The Quincy Blue Devils will take on the Alton Redbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Quincy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They snuck past Edwardsville with a 42-36 victory.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Quincy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khloe Nicholson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Nicholson a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Cameran Byquist, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 13 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Alton blew past Granite City, posting a 77-17 win. The Redbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Alton pushed their record up to 29-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points over those games. As for Quincy, their win bumped their record up to 20-10.

Quincy took a serious blow against Alton in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 58-31. Can Quincy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
