Softball Game Preview: Deer Valley Wolverines vs. Freedom Falcons

Deer Valley is 0-10 against Freedom since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Wolverines will challenge the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Deer Valley has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Deer Valley is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Pittsburg, falling 17-7. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly ten runs.

Braelyn Valdez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosalyn Zermeno, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Freedom and Liberty had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Falcons lost 10-0 to the Lions on Thursday. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1. As for Deer Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Deer Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Freedom struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Deer Valley might still be hurting after the 22-0 defeat they got from Freedom when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
