Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Versailles' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Versailles came out on top against Miami East on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Tigers blew past the Vikings 11-1. Considering the Tigers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Matt Subler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Subler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Versailles is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Miami East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Versailles will challenge St. John's at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2.9, the Bluejays 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Miami East, they will face off against Milton-Union at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
