Softball Recap: Okanogan Comes Up Short

Okanogan had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Lake Roosevelt Raiders, falling 13-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for Lake Roosevelt, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Lake Roosevelt's part, Presley Steffens was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Steffens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Paisley Fury and Taylor Vargas-Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Fury got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Vargas-Thomas went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nautika Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Okanogan beat Lake Roosevelt by a score of 20-6 later that day.
