Baseball Recap: Murray Comes Up Short

Murray suffered their closest defeat since May 7, 2025 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Cyprus Pirates by a score of 10-8. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Taylor Shelton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Brady Sofonia also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Murray has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Cyprus, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Murray will be playing at home against Mountain Crest at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cyprus, they will head out to challenge Farmington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
