Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

St. Mary played a tough matchup on Sunday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Paul VI Panthers and fell 65-34. The contest marked the Saints' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Bailey Harris. Despite the final result, she went 9 for 17 on her way to 21 points and five boards. That was a full 61.8% of St. Mary's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Alexandra Vandiver was another key player, putting up six points.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Mary's and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Paul VI, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

St. Mary's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-28 win against Broadneck on the 9th. As for Paul VI, they will be taking part in a tournament against Manchester at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
