Softball Recap: Indian Creek Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

While Indian Creek's win against North Putnam wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Braves had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-2 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Braves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Delaney Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jasmine Day was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jada Shepard, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Indian Creek's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for North Putnam, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indian Creek will square off against Owen Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for North Putnam, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Riverton Parke at 6:00 p.m.
