League recap: League lead hangs in balance for Harnett Central, Garner Magnet this week

4A Greater Neuse River league recap: 3/20/13

Garner Magnet (2-0 in 4A Greater Neuse River play, 7-2 overall) and Harnett Central (1-0, 4-0) are locked in a battle atop the standings of 4A Greater Neuse River. Over the past week, the Trojans was 3-0 and the Trojans went 3-0.

Harnett Central outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its three total wins led the league. The Trojans beat Western Harnett 3-2, the Eagles 19-6 and Southeast Raleigh 10-0.

The Bulldogs' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only four hits and six walks, both of which led the league.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Cody Alphin, who turned in six Ks for East Wake. He's second in the league with six total strikeouts.



The Warriors' Todd Mizell was locked in this week, and led the league with a .667 average (2-for-3) over that span. His average for the season stands at .200, which ranks 16th in the league. Mizell has accumulated three base knocks this year so far.
