Baseball Recap: Stagg Delta Kings vs. Linden Lions

It was a good run, but Stagg unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Linden Lions. The shutout was out of character for Stagg seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

For Linden's part, Eric Alvarez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Alvarez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. Alvarez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Braden Busalacchi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. Brody Black was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, a stolen base, and a double.

Stagg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Linden, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.

Stagg will square off against Chavez at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Stagg has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Linden, they will head out on the road to challenge Weston Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weston Ranch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
