After a string of nine wins, North Stokes's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the East Surry Cardinals by a score of 3-2. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elijah Whicker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

North Stokes suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 9-3. As for East Surry, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

North Stokes didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-6 loss against Alleghany on the 25th. As for East Surry, they have also already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against South Stokes on the 26th.
