Softball Game Preview: Oregon Hawks vs. Dixon Dukes & Duchesses

Oregon has gone 8-2 against Dixon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Hawks will take on the Dukes & Duchesses at 4:30 p.m. Oregon will be strutting in after a win while Dixon will be coming in after a defeat.

Oregon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Rock Falls 7-0. Considering the Hawks have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Isabelle Berg's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Oregon let Ella Dannhorn and Emma Schlichtmann run wild. Dannhorn scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4, while Schlichtmann scored a run while going 2-for-2. Alexi Czochara (2026) was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Dixon didn't have quite enough to beat Stillman Valley on Monday and fell 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Dukes & Duchesses in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost six in a row.

Bailey Tegeler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Breanna Tegeler, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Oregon and bumps their season record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Dixon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Oregon took their victory against Dixon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dukes & Duchesses turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
