Rio Linda gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the River Valley Falcons as the Rio Linda Knights made off with an 8-1 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Knights have posted since April 12, 2024.
Adam Vaughn and Ayden Crawford were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Vaughn pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Crawford pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those no hits gave Vaughn a new career-low. At bat, Vaughn scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Crawford went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Vaughn a new career-high in stolen bases.
In other batting news, Carlos Martinez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
