California high school softball strikeout leaders: Atwater senior Amelie Valdez tops list

Despite team's losing record, Valdez has stepped up by striking out more than two batters per inning.

Amelie Valdez leads California high school softball in strikeouts with 283 in just 131 innings. Despite 21 appearances, Valdez has managed just eight decisions, going 6-2 with a 1.54 ERA.
She's struck out at least 10 in every game but three with a high of 19 twice, including a 4-0 win over Patterson when she allowed three hits and two walks.
