Basketball Game Preview: Benson Bobcats vs. St. Augustine Catholic Wolves

Last Thursday, Benson didn't have too much trouble with Santa Rita as they won 71-54.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine Catholic can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They breezed by Lourdes Catholic to the tune of 62-29. That looming 62-29 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolves yet this season.

St. Augustine Catholic found their leader in sophomore Jovanni Fernandez, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 15 boards, and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fernandez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nico Martinez, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.

St. Augustine Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 11 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 5.9.

St. Augustine Catholic's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Benson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.
