Machias had to endure a five-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Sumner Tigers on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on September 8th.

While Machias won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-12, 25-13.

Machias found their leader in sophomore Myra Look, who had 12 aces and three digs.

Machias was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 27 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matches.

Machias picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Sumner, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Machias will face off against Lee Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sumner, they will square off against Bucksport at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
