Softball Recap: Kaufman Lions vs. Midlothian Heritage Jaguars

Kaufman had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 8-15-2 to make it four. They came up short against the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars, falling 13-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-7 back in March.

Kaufman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Phiffer, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Midlothian Heritage, the victory (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 24-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games.

On Midlothian Heritage's side, Trinity Chittamai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Chittamai has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylee Parrish was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Joleigh Richards was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

As of now, neither Kaufman nor Midlothian Heritage have any future games scheduled.
