Baseball Game Preview: Herron Achaeans vs. Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils

The Herron Achaeans will face off against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Herron has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Herron came up short against Purdue Polytechnic on Saturday, falling 12-2. The Achaeans have struggled against the Techies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Herron saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elon Sharp, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Curtis Morris also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Indianapolis Shortridge didn't have quite enough to beat Northwest on Friday and fell 6-5.

Tate Turman made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs. Charlie Goodwin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Herron now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Herron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Indianapolis Shortridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Herron got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Indianapolis Shortridge by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Achaeans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
