Volleyball Game Preview: The Nueva School Mavericks vs. More Knights

The Nueva School is 9-1 against More since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mavericks will venture away from home to face off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m.

On Thursday, The Nueva School didn't have quite enough to beat Basis Independent Silicon Valley and fell 3-2.

The Nueva School took Basis Independent Silicon Valley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 15-8.

Despite the loss, The Nueva School saw an underclassman step up: freshman Julia Cai had 15 kills, three digs, and three aces. Cai is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoe Chien, who had seven digs and three aces.

Meanwhile, More had to endure a five-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Del Mar on Saturday.

The Nueva School has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for More, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.

The Nueva School beat More 2-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
