Basketball Recap: Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Comes Up Short

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss. They were beaten by the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Knights 74-31. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Knights are ranked 92nd).

Despite the loss, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda still got an impressive performance from Cole Schmidt, who posted seven points and five rebounds. Bryce Nielsen was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda will head out on the road to square off against Edgerton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, they will square off against Minneota at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Russell-Tyler-Ruthton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Minneota likes a good challenge.
