Preview: East Rankin Academy Patriots vs. Copiah Academy Colonels
The East Rankin Academy Patriots will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Copiah Academy Colonels at 7:45 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully East Rankin Academy is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Mississippi (they are ranked 19th, while Copiah Academy is ranked 169th).
East Rankin Academy suffered their closest loss since November 20, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Rossville Christian Academy by a score of 34-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points East Rankin Academy has scored all season.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Copiah Academy walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 62-42 margin over the Cougars. The victory was some much needed relief for Copiah Academy as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
East Rankin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 33-7. As for Copiah Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-15.
East Rankin Academy took their victory against Copiah Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 49-29. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Rankin Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
