Baseball Preview: Jumpertown Cardinals vs. Wheeler Eagles
The Jumpertown Cardinals will face off against the Wheeler Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Last Saturday, Jumpertown made easy work of Ashland and carried off an 18-1 victory.
Meanwhile, everything went Wheeler's way against Potts Camp on Monday as Wheeler made off with an 18-8 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Peirce Spencer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases. In other batting news, Wheeler got a massive performance out of Lucas Hall, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those five runs gave Hall a new career-high. Brayden Edwards was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Jumpertown back to even at 1-1. As for Wheeler, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
