Baseball Game Preview: Burbank Bulldogs vs. Seguin Matadors

The Burbank Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Seguin Matadors at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Burbank's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Seguin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Burbank will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Highlands on Tuesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Owls with a sharp 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Nathaniel Boone was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Cameron Molina also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Boone wasn't the only one making solid contact: Burbank kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands only managed two hits.

Meanwhile, Seguin came up short against Edison on Thursday and fell 5-2. The Matadors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Seguin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Gray Mahaffey, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Burbank is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Seguin, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 13-7-1.

Burbank couldn't quite get it done against Seguin when the teams last played back in March as they fell 5-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
