Softball Game Preview: Sulligent Blue Devils vs. Winfield Pirates

Sulligent hasn't had much luck against Winfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Winfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sulligent, who comes in off a win.

Sulligent will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Thursday, then bounced right back against Fayette County on Thursday. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 12-7. The Blue Devils have beaten the Tigers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Addison Heath made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Heath was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aubree Flynn was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Presley Knight, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Winfield came up short against Brookwood on Saturday and fell 5-1.

Sulligent's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Winfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
