Preview: Bishop Badgers vs. West Oso Bears

The Bishop Badgers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the West Oso Bears at 11:30 a.m. on December 7th. Hopefully Bishop focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.

Even though Miller scored an imposing 65 points, Bishop still came out on top. Bishop took their match against Miller 73-65. Given Bishop's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while Miller is ranked 1263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop can attribute much of their success to Isaac Colunga, who scored 23 points, and Donny Thomas, who scored 22 points along with 9 assists and 6 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Bishop's points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Parr, who scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.

Meanwhile, West Oso waltzed into Thursday's contest with three straight wins but they left with four. They had just enough and edged Canyon Lake out 49-46.

West Oso's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amaree Sanders, who scored 14 points. Sanders continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Josh Williams was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 7 rebounds.

Bishop has yet to lose a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 7-4 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for West Oso, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's game: Bishop have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.3 threes per game. It's a different story for West Oso, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 per game. Given Bishop's sizeable advantage in that area, West Oso will need to find a way to close that gap.
