Softball Game Preview: Union Knights vs. Wapsie Valley Warriors

Union hasn't had much luck against Wapsie Valley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Knights will welcome the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Union has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Union is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Jesup on Friday. They lost 11-2 to the J-Hawks.

Meanwhile, Wapsie Valley entered their tilt with Clayton-Ridge on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Wapsie Valley, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Union came up short against Wapsie Valley in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
