Volleyball Game Preview: New Caney Eagles vs. The Woodlands Highlanders

New Caney hasn't had much luck against The Woodlands recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. The Woodlands took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on New Caney, who comes in off a win.

New Caney took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Caney Creek. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, The Woodlands came up short against College Park on Tuesday, falling 3-0.

While The Woodlands had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 25-22.

New Caney will have to keep a close watch on Megan Johnson and Olivia Hertel, a pair of players who had a big impact on The Woodlands' prior game. Johnson had 11 digs and ten assists, while Hertel had four digs and three aces. Claire Tidwell also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

New Caney's win bumped their record up to 16-23. As for The Woodlands, their loss dropped their record down to 19-18.

New Caney suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to The Woodlands in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
