Basketball Recap: Joaquin Comes Up Short

Joaquin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets, falling 85-25. The Rams lost against the Yellowjackets in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-35 score last time.

TJ Hawkins was Joaquin's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Brandon Kennedy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elysian Fields, putting up 42 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Kennedy has scored at least a third of Elysian Fields' points. Colby Stephens was another key player, scoring 18 points.

Joaquin's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Elysian Fields, they moved to 12-11 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Joaquin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 91-31 defeat against Tenaha on the 17th. Elysian Fields has also already played their next match, a 57-53 loss against Waskom on the 17th.
